The lightweight trench is such a classic piece and ideal for this time of year. This particular one though had to be replaced recently. One day last winter when I thought my beloved trench from La Redoute was safely hanging up downstairs, my husband Matt opened his wardrobe and found something similar. He says ” Is this yours?” I reply “No, why would my coat be in your wardrobe?” then he turns and says, “Then whose is that downstairs that I gave to……” he gasps in realisation that he had TAKEN MY COAT to the charity shop thinking it was his! I couldn’t believe it and thought he was joking for a while until he offered to replace it. I explained (after a few choice words) that I had spent much time and effort searching for a classic trench that was just right! Luckily he did replace it with the same style from La Redoute and I’ve loved wearing it this season.
Anyway what I’m trying to get across is that sometimes even to find a classic piece you may need to do a bit of research until you find the perfect one for you. With a staple like the trench this is one item that will always be in style, and I’ve noticed this season there has definitely been many versions in various cuts, colours and materials. For me, I like classic styles that I know I’ll get my wear out of. Although trench coats often come in longer lengths I opted for the shorter version as I think it will go with more casual looks yet still feel chic. I’ve styled it here with a slogan tee, mom jeans and trainers and the trench manages to make this basic outfit look pulled together. How will you be wearing yours?
