I like all vintage eras but I like to buy things that are wearable and can be mixed with the rest of my wardrobe. I’m drawn to 70s and 80s, but I do love a 50s skirt now and again! I’m not one for dressing that particular age head to toe as I still like to look modern, but I do like to add something special to a look sometimes like an eye-catching bag or a print. When I’m shopping generally I also find myself drawn to vintage inspired prints or cuts.
My advice to anyone thinking of shopping for vintage is to go for it and experiment. Opt for an item you can work into several outfits at first like a neck tie or some sunglasses. If you’re scared of breaking away from your high street habits then don’t be, vintage is much more available and affordable these days. If you fall in love with a bold printed 80s dress then team it with a biker jacket and boots for a more up to date look.
I’m hoping to share more vintage styling tips on this blog so please let me know any requests and I’ll try and do a post on it. Plus I’d love to hear what you’ve bought if you have been vintage shopping!
