Nursery reveal

Nursery reveal

This is a post I’ve been meaning to post for ages! Between trying to get into a routine and lack of sleep, my blog has been something I’ve had to fit in when I can. The nursery is situated in our box room at the front of the house, previously my office, for a short time. You can read more about the plans and inspiration here. It was quite nice not to rush to get this done as Beatrix is sleeping in with us for the first few months anyway.

We had already painted the room white, but couldn’t really afford to splash out on new furniture so we basically used Stella’s old nursery furniture which was all neutral anyway. We always knew we could add colour to the nursery afterwards with accessories.

Working with a smaller space this time, the room just about fits a wardrobe, cot, chest of drawers and we also managed to squeeze in a rocking chair.

With a small room the storage was always going to be limited, that’s why we kept the wardrobe and chest of drawers for clothing and blanket storage. I used a grey fabric basket for toys, and the baskets and hanging bag for things like wet wipes and bibs. I also wanted to create some storage for books as well as a display so I got these pretty shelves from Maision du monde.

I used a mix of books, soft toys and keepsake ornaments to create a pretty shelving display, which is probably my favourite part of the room. I also added a small macrame hanging which is positioned next to the window, also from Maison du Monde.

I added colour with touches of teal and coral pink, with accessories like the rug, lampshade and cushions.
