Checks are everywhere on the high street right now, in particular the Prince of Wales check in blazer form. If you’re trying to find the balance between smart and casual then a blazer is the perfect way to do it. It’s is one of those versatile pieces that can be worn over pretty much any look, your favourite slogan tee, a pretty camisole, or a classic white shirt. Dress it up with heels or keep it low key in trainers, for an understated look. The added grey checks just make your outfit complete, ideal if your wearing an all black ensemble. I bought this particular checked blazer from Miss. Selfridge, and paired it with a slogan tee, jeans and tassel earrings just to dress up the look. The ruched sleeves keep it casual, but the jacket completes the outfit.

For when the weather turns colder, fear not as there are already a multitude of checked coats out there. From tailored styles to slouchy boyfriend fits, I think it’s definitely worth the investment, especially in a shade like grey as it won’t date as much.

And if you want to mix up your workwear wardrobe or simply want a change from jeans you could also try checked trousers. Keep it simple on top; team with a slouchy knit or tucked in tee for a new take on tailoring. Have you tried the trend yet?
